Winter Frost in Bethlehem

So I got some of the new holiday paper out of Stampin' Up's Holiday catalog. The colors in it are gorgeous!

I was so excited when I sat down to write this post but it was a feeling very short lived. I thought "Hey, I finally made an all SU card"  NOT!  Every die I used was from Spellbinders. The papers and stamps was from SU and to boot, the stamp set is retired.  You can buy the stamp from SU in digital format for only $1.95 USD.

This is a 5.5" x 5.5" easel card.  I used, Island Indigo, Coastal Cabana, and Smoky Slate card stock.  The patterned paper is from the Winter frost paper back and 12" x 12" dsp pack.  I embossed the image using black embossing power then created by background using crumb cake and baked brown sugar and various SU blue inks.

Where are you fall?

So it was my turn to come up with the challenge and I had chosen to do a fall theme.  I have to say, I do not like this card at all but I ran out of time and now I'm stuck with it.

I was determined that I would use this Memory Box tree die but it's HUGE so I had to make a big card which is 5x7.  I love the look of brayered skies but I need practice and lots of it as you can see from this photo.  I'm probably going to redo this card until I get it right

Mojo Monday #300

Hi everyone!  It's been a while since made a card and posted.  My mojo has disappeared but it will come back I'm sure.

This card I done is for a couple different things.  One it's the 300th sketch from Mojo Monday and a red, white and blue challenge that my friend Holly and I are doing.  I am going to toot my own horn here.  I have never and I mean NEVER worked with 3 different patterned papers and was happy with the outcome.

The patterned paper is from Imaginisce Snowy Jo line and from Paper Studio.  I used PTI vellum for the snowflake and Stampers Select white for the base.  SU's Basic Gray for the layer.

The stamp set is from There She Goes called Warmest Wishes. I used Prisma pencils to color the snowman and used coordinating dies to cut the image out.  Spellbinders was used to cut out the vellum snowflake. The bling is from SU colored with a Sharpie marker.  One thing this picture doesn't show is the dimension.  There are 3 dimensionals under that snowflake.

Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.

Recipe Swap II - Summer Salad

So yesterday I posted a recipe swap for a family favorite. Today I'm showing one for a summer salad.  If you make any of these recipes and you liked them, let me know.  If you didn't like them, you don't need to let me know. lol

This was a pain in the arse.  It took me forever to come up with this simple design. I had it all put together and I realized I forgot to type the name of the recipe on it.  Argh!  So I had to somehow put it on there. This is what I came up with.  I typed and printed them out then used a banner die to cut them out.

When I showed it to Mark his first response was, "there's no cherries in there".  Why did you stamp a cherry.  Seriously!  I told him I was taking liberties.

Recipe Swap - Family Favorite

When Mark and I first got married I had a ton of Taste of Home annual cookbooks.  Never having to cook really I was at a loss on what to make for dinner.  I decided to try this recipe and the rest is history. I've been making this going on 8 years. It still remains one of our favorite recipes.

What better recipe to share with a great group of ladies from a site I love to visit.  I learned something about myself when doing this swap.  I need to have a purpose to use my supplies. I've never had so much fun then when I was doing these swaps.

When having a purpose to using my supplies I never once thought about hoarding anything. Everything was fair game. Well as long as I had multiples of 8 since I had to do that many.

So without further ado here's the first recipe.  I'll be back tomorrow with the other one that I signed up to do.

I'm Feeling Old

Not really but time sure does fly.   I made this card for a young lady who is graduating from high school in a few days.  I remember when I first met her. It was 9 years ago on my birthday when my boyfriend at the time  took me to meet one of his best friends.  They have became dear friends of mine as well.  Shelby was only in the 3rd grade. It's so hard to believe she is getting ready to move on to the next chapter of her life.  She is such a sweet girl.  Mark and I always say, if all the kids could be like the Riffle kids the world would be a better place.

Anywho, lets get on with the card

Goodness, life is full of good intentions.  I was so gung ho on doing challenges and posting them to my blog but life flies by and next thing I knew it's April and I only had done one post.

Over on SCS a lady was looking for cards for her brother-in-law's dad who was a WWII vet. I came up with this card.  It is not what I wanted when I set out to do the card but this is what I ended up with.  Enjoy!
